FAQ
Is it safe to hire developers in Ukraine in 2026?
Many US and UK companies keep working with Ukrainian teams. The real risks are power and connectivity interruptions and travel limits, so ask any vendor how they handle them. Empat has kept delivering through COVID and the full-scale war, with a team distributed across Kyiv and London.
What are the pros and cons of outsourcing to Ukraine?
Pros: a large senior engineering pool, strong English among client-facing engineers, a full shared working day with the UK and Europe, and competitive rates compared with US and UK hiring. Cons: wartime continuity risk, a seven-hour gap to the US East Coast, and thinner coverage in some niche stacks. Ask each vendor how it handles all three.
How much does it cost to hire a developer in Ukraine?
Rates depend on seniority, stack and engagement model, and are lower than US and UK rates for comparable seniority, which is why many companies hire here. Our preliminary proposal lists the rate for each role.
What time zone are Ukrainian developers in?
Ukraine is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2, UTC+3 in summer). That is two hours ahead of London and seven hours ahead of New York, giving UK clients a full shared day and US East Coast clients a shared morning.
Do Ukrainian developers speak English?
Our client-facing engineers and all leads speak English at B2–C1, and we confirm the level of each named person before you take them on. Our hiring floor is B2 for delivery roles and C1 for client-facing and leadership roles.
What tech stacks does your team in Ukraine cover?
Flutter, React, React Native, Vue, Node.js, Python (Django), PHP (Laravel), Magento, Shopify and native iOS, plus AI development with tools such as Claude, OpenAI and GitHub Copilot.
How does Empat work with clients in the US and UK?
